A nature nerd’s work is never done! Boulder County Audubon Society works hard to be a voice for birds and wildlife conservation, and we are always looking for others who are as passionate as we are about these issues to help us protect the birds and habitats we love here. There are myriad ways for volunteers to contribute to BCAS! Every committee needs volunteers to help with different tasks. If you want to participate in any of these activities, or think you have something unique to bring to the organization, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
BCAS Leadership Recruitment 2026/2027
We need you to be part of the leadership and guidance of Boulder County Audubon Society (BCAS). We are seeking fun, dedicated people interested in wildlife and wild landscapes education, conservation, and enjoyment to join the Board of Directors. BCAS is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that serves as a voice for birds and wildlife conservation through habitat protection, advocacy, and nature education. The Board of Directors promote the BCAS mission, determine the policies of the BCAS, and conduct the business of the BCAS.
The BCAS Board of Directors is a collaborative, working board. The Directors work as a team for the success of BCAS by communicating, coordinating with, and supporting their fellow Directors, Committee Leads and Program Coordinators to support the BCAS mission.
The time commitment of each Director will vary depending on the specific roles that Directors assume. Directors are expected to attend and participate in board meetings. Currently these are held monthly (1-2 hrs on a weeknight). Directors are also asked to attend the monthly member meetings (Sept - May). Many of us members of BCAS enjoy travel and it is understood that Directors may miss meetings and have occasional other commitments.
Directors are expected to take on one or more BCAS leadership roles within the first year. Potential leadership roles include the following:
Officer (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer)
Committee lead
Coordinator role
Advisory role with special skills (legal, non-profit management, etc)
Directors serve two-year terms, with a maximum term of six consecutive years. The BCAS Officers are elected from within the BCAS Board of Directors. This year, we are seeking up to seven Directors for the board, including those who are also interested in taking on the President, Vice President, and Treasurer positions.
Preferred Skills
Computer competency including using (or willingness to learn to use) Google Workspace (esp. Gmail & Drive)

Interested but not ready for the Board?
Let us know! We are also seeking volunteers to join our active committees, including Monthly Programs, Conservation, and Teen Naturalists. We are also looking for people to revamp the Events & Tabling committee to provide educational demonstrations, short birding walks, and other engaging content at community events like World Migratory Bird Day.
