North Boulder County is an exceptional hotspot for raptor watching in winter. We'll start at Lagerman Reservoir and carpool to several additional spots between there and Lyons looking for Bald and Golden Eagles, Red-tailed and Ferruginous Hawks, Northern Harriers, American Kestrels, and Prairie Falcons. We hope to see a lot of individual raptors, so the focus of this trip will be on observing the plumage and structural details that differentiate the various species, sub-species, ages, and color morphs when perched and in flight. Birders of all experience levels are welcome!
