Save the Date for our December Teen Naturalists event: contributing in longest running survey of birds in the world by participating in the Christmas Bird Count.

Audubon Christmas Bird Counts, initiated in 1900, have helped conservationists track and conserve a variety of bird species throughout North America. The first Boulder Christmas Bird Count was on Christmas Eve 1910 – before they were even called Christmas Bird Counts but simply the Bird Lore Annual Census. Since 1975 Boulder County Audubon has supported the coordination of the annual Boulder Christmas Bird Count.

This trip is free and open to all Boulder-area teens (and their families) who love nature and science. No prior birdwatching experience is required. We have binoculars anyone can borrow. Please mention that you would like to borrow binoculars when you register.

Who Can Participate?: Outings are open to unaccompanied students in sixth grade and up, as well as younger students accompanied by parents. New participants are welcome at any time.

Binoculars & Cameras To Borrow: BCAS has cameras and high quality binoculars for teens to borrow on Teen Naturalist programs. If you want to borrow one, please include this in your Registration email so that the trip leader knows to bring it for you.

Transportation: Participants must provide their own transportation to teen naturalist trips. A participant list will be shared if participants want to coordinate carpooling among themselves. If you don’t want your contact information shared with other participants, please include this when you register.
