The south side of Standley Lake offers excellent fall/winter viewing of the large reservoir. We'll look for arriving winter waterbirds including diving ducks, loons, grebes, and gulls. There are also several wooded and brushy areas that attract a variety of songbirds, plus a large prairie dog colony that may have raptors overhead. Plan to walk about two miles on hilly trails with a few short steep sections. A spotting scope will be helpful if you have one; the leader will bring one to share. Port-a-potties are available at the parking area.

Where to meet: Meet at the parking lot on the north side of 86th Parkway, at the intersection with Simms St. in Westminster.
