Common Whitetail (m)

(Plathemis lydia). Similar to the male Widow Skimmer, the back bands in the wings of this species are near the tips. Seeing the thick white abdomen of the male in the air reminds one of a flying piece of chalk! Often perches on ground or somewhat vertical on vegetation. Habitat: ponds and marshes. Season: summer.
