Common Green Darner (m)

(Anax junius). This colorful dragonfly dwarfs most others, and is the largest species in Colorado. Key field marks: Bold green eyes, face, and thorax. Bright blue abdomen, with dark center line down top. Habitat: ponds. Flight season: Early spring to fall, migratory. Photo by Ann Cooper.
