Eastern Pondhawk (f)

(Erthemis simplicicolis). Female pondhawks are emerald green. The Eastern Pondhawk has broad black stripes around sections of the abdomen. Female and male Eastern Pondhawks have white appendages at the very tip of their tails. Pondhawks prefer to perch horizontally on logs and rocks at the edge of water. Habitat: shorelines of ponds.
