Belted Whiteface (m)

(Leucorrhinia proxima). This species forages from atop weeds and grasses in sunny patches in forest clearings. Key field marks: crimson red thorax and first two segments of abdomen. Bright white face. Habitat: bogs and foothills ponds. Season: spring to fall. Photo by Ann Cooper.
