Birding Adventures Scholarship for Teens Boulder County Audubon Socienty offers a full scholarship to a summer ornithology camp for Colorado students ages 15-17. Students must demonstrate financial need and/or a strong interest in natural science. Scholarship availability is announced November 1, and students must submit their applications by February 1. Scholarship recipients are notified by March 1. Preference is given to Boulder County students. Project Puffin Hog Island Ornithology: Coastal Maine Bird Studies for TeensJune 17-22, 2012
Hog Island Audubon Summer Camp "Take a week of riveting field trips to habitats as diverse as offshore puffin islands, windswept blueberry barrens, lush grasslands, and sphagnum moss forests, add some of the most respected bird experts in the country, and you have Coastal Mane Bird Studies for Teens on Hog Island. In this course students will explore all things avian, from basic birding biology to nesting behavior, songs, migration, and conservation. Learn in small-group settings from pros like field guide author Kenn Kaufman, ornithologist Dr. Sara Morris, and author Scott Weidensaul as they teach everything from bird banding techniques to bird photography and bird song recording." $945 scholarship covers class, dormitory housing in the Crow's Nest lodge, and all meals. Up to $500 travel reimbursement is available after completion of class. Note to applicants: Make sure you visit the website of the program you are interested in and thoroughly investigate it before filling out the application form. Places have already been reserved for scholarship winners. Do not register for the camp at this time. We will help you complete the registration process after the scholarships have been awarded.
