Winter Hawk Walk

Limit 15, RSVP to trip leader to reserve your spot after 6:00 pm on Monday January 16. Early registration is not accepted.

Trip Leader: Dave Sutherland, dsutherland4747@gmail.com https://www.davesutherland.co/

Participants must follow CDC and State of Colorado and Boulder County Public Health guidelines on the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants must also follow individual field trip leader requirements, such as fully vaccinated status to register and/or wearing masks when in close proximity. And, PLEASE stay home if you are feeling unwell.

Join Naturalist Dave Sutherland to watch majestic birds of prey wheel and hunt over the prairie as we take a short, easy hike near Boulder Reservoir. Bring binoculars, spotting scopes, guidebooks, and any level of experience. Be prepared for cold windy conditions and amazing sights. Bonus points if you can walk like a hawk! Please bring strap-on traction for footwear (e.g. micro-spikes or Yaktrax) since the trail may be very slick and icy.

Where to meet: Meet at the aptly-named Eagle Trailhead, on N. 51st Street (just north of where N 51st St curves east and changes to N 55th St), on the west side of Boulder Reservoir, about two miles north of Jay Road. Directions and more here.
