Great Horned Owl

As the full moon rises over the prairie, leafless cottonwood trees become black twisted shapes against the sky. This is the world of the great horned owl - a powerful and mysterious nocturnal predator. Naturalist Dave Sutherland will lead you into the moonlit world of owls on this easy nighttime hike at Sawhill Ponds. Dress warmly and bring gloves. Bring a flashlight just in case, but we won’t need them. Suitable for all ages!

Where to meet: Meet at the Sawhill Ponds trailhead (Please don’t go to the adjacent Walden Ponds!) From 75th St, turn west on the dirt road at about 0.6 miles miles north of Valmont Rd and travel about 0.4 miles to the trailhead. Directions and more here.
