On December 30, 2021, the Marshall Fire exploded into the most destructive wildfire in Colorado’s history, destroying over 1000 homes and torching over 6000 acres. Now, almost nine months later, the land is making a stunning - and surprising - recovery. Join Naturalist Dave Sutherland for an astonishing tour of Marshall Mesa to see how the flames affected the grassland and forest ecosystems where the fire started. Be prepared to hike 2.5 miles. Note: There are many mountain bikers sharing the trail, so care is needed while hiking.

Where to meet: Meet at the Marshall Mesa Trailhead parking lot, located just east of the intersection of Highway 93 and Marshall Road at 5258 East Eldorado Springs Drive. A parking fee is required at the trailhead for vehicles not registered in Boulder County. Overflow parking (no fee required) is located at the gravel lot across the street. More info about the area is located here.
