Boulder Birds & Brew: Bear Canyon Trail and Spring Migration!

Limit 20, please RSVP on the Meetup page. If you’re not already a member of Meetup, you’ll need to join to get details and sign up for this event. Please cancel if you register and can’t make it, so someone on the waitlist can attend.

This is a favorite hike to see lots of different species this time of year, so join us if you can! I'll have some extra binoculars for those who need them.

Our leader will be Sachin Shenoy, one of our long-time members. Sachin is an Astronomer working as a data pipeline scientist for SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory For Infrared Astronomy). His science interests are to understand the physical and chemical properties of molecular clouds, effects of star formation on the interstellar grains, creation and destruction of organics in the interstellar medium and circumstellar disks. Prior to SOFIA, he was a NASA Postdoctoral Fellow at Ames Research Center, staff scientist at SPITZER Science Center, MIPSGAL postdoctoral fellow and adjunct faculty at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Sachin is an avid bird watcher and loves the outdoors. He has been birding since his undergraduate days in Goa, India. He has volunteered with various projects run by World Wildlife Fund - India, Santa Clara Valley Audubon, NPS - Point Reyes National Seashore, NPS - Lassen National Park, Longmont Parks & Rec, and Bird Conservancy of the Rockies. He also enjoys cooking, traveling and long-distance running.

After birding we'll go to Under the Sun in the Table Mesa shopping center to chat and enjoy some treats. As usual, Audubon will provide some snacks and you buy your own beverages.

Where to Meet
Birds: Bear Canyon trailhead. From Broadway, head west on Table Mesa Dr., then turn left onto Lehigh St., then take a right on Bear Mountain Dr. and follow it to the trailhead. Park along the street and we'll meet at the trailhead.
Brews: Under the Sun in the Table Mesa shopping center, Table Mesa Dr. and Broadway.
